Due to the fact that so many people write in for financial problems, we thought that it might be beneficial to bring from our archives a series concerning money. There are many world conditions causing the instability of our economics but at the same time, like every other area of our life we have disobeyed God's rule, trespassed His will, resulting in the poverty and lack we see today in so much of the world. Man foolishly thinks the money is his, resulting in man building his own little empire rather than the Kingdom of God. Perhaps as you read below you will come to some conclusions and perhaps find some answers to your own financial problems.

Have you ever noticed when leadership brings up the topic of money it appears to be a sore or touchy subject with many people? It's as though they think they are prying into their private lives. It really shouldn't be this way, I hope you realize, as the money we have is not ours in the first place.
The scripture in Haggai 2:8 makes this quite clear.
8 "The silver is Mine, and the gold is Mine," says the LORD of hosts.

It all belongs to our Father and He actually wishes to delegate who gets what. Somehow, over the years however, we have become quite possessive and have stolen the money for ourselves. Now we even refer to it as "our money". Maybe we have made the decision to not pay tithes at times, perhaps using the excuse we needed the money for our personal bills. Did you realize that God calls that robbery at Malachi 3:8-9, and we actually become cursed in the area of finances.

8 " Will a man rob God? Yet you have robbed Me! But you say, "In what way have we robbed You?" In tithes and offerings.
9 You are cursed with a curse, for you have robbed Me, even this whole nation.

Were there times we were aware of a brother's need, but chose to ignore it. Again, God calls that robbery, unloving.
I John 3:17
17 But whoever has this world's goods, and sees his brother in need, and shuts up his heart from him, how does the love of God abide in him?

Or maybe we gave willingly into the Kingdom for a long time in the past, but decided to stop for whatever reason. Well, we can receive the harvest on what we gave previously and be satisfied, but unless we seed back, when the present harvest runs out, there will be no more. You see, in making these decisions, we have used very bad judgment. We unintentionally were being dishonest towards God's Kingdom, and as a result, we were cheating God and His people. We presumptuously made a call as to how to use what was never ours. Here is why God blesses us beyond our own personal immediate needs.
Deuteronomy 8:18
18 "And you shall remember the LORD your God, for it is He who gives you power to get wealth (and here is why He gives it), that He may establish His covenant which He swore to your fathers, as it is this day.

In other words He prospers to enable us to give when it is needed to establish the covenants. Jesus gave His life for them and wants them offered to humanity. Think about what He did in making the new covenant available to us. The new covenant not only gives us the opportunity to have all our sins forgiven, but to be born again as new creatures. At the same time it opens the way for the Abrahamic covenant to be effective for us again as, today's children of Abraham. Galatians 3:29 assures us "if we are Christ's then we are Abraham's seed", so we become the double blessed, benefactors of both the Abrahamic covenant and new covenant made by Jesus. God's people must be made aware of this good news so they too can be blessed. Health, wealth, dominion and eternity were made possible through the covenants and are to be ours if we can only trust Him and let Him set the rules for His own economy. For all this to come about however, we must do things His way as only His way is blessed. Only His way works. It is the way of the Tree of Life. For example, God is not the least impressed with how much money or provision we shrewdly have set aside for ourselves for emergencies or the hard times. We are to trust Him completely to take us through them. To not implicitly trust Him to provide is in fact a lack of faith causing a breach of the spiritual law in Matthew 6:25-27.

25 "Therefore I say to you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink; nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food and the body more than clothing?
26 Look at the birds of the air, for they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they?
27 Which of you by worrying can add one cubit to his stature?

Worry is just a distraction, a preoccupation with things causing stress. It is the negative result of our lack of faith. The Word also says our hearts are where our treasure is. I personally want my treasure invested in stocks that never go down, and shares in a Kingdom that will never be forced by the world's systems to go out of business.
Isaiah 48:17
17 Thus says the LORD, your Redeemer, The Holy One of Israel: " I am the LORD your God, who teaches you to profit, who leads you by the way you should go.

It is truly a good business move and financially sound to invest our finances in the Kingdom's people, culture and activities. The Lord gives us all a certain amount of seed to make our investments, but if we do not plant it, how can the Kingdom ever increase? In other words, we can only reap a personal financial harvest and see Kingdom advancement if we obediently plant the financial seed God gives us to sow.
II Corinthians 9:6 instructs us,
6 But this I say: He who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and he who sows bountifully will also reap bountifully.

Another way of explaining this financial principle and spiritual law is, as vessels, we must keep pouring out to be refilled. You cannot pour into a full container. The scripture says it this way in Luke.

38 Give, and it will be given to you: good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over will be put into your bosom. For with the same measure that you use, it will be measured back to you."

God wishes for us to personally live well from our harvests, but He also expects us to plant some of the money seed back into His Kingdom to supply the next harvest. Using this method, there will always be enough to meet all of the family needs, thus allowing God, through us, to amply provide as head of His family. When we stockpile, we stop the flow or distribution to others that Father intended the money to be used for. It is a different way of thinking, but we can actually bring curses on ourselves with this present day wrong financial mentality and cause hardship for others.
We must share. Father may meet our needs, food and clothing etc., simply because He says He will, but why should He give much beyond that if we are going to horde it for ourselves and use the money selfishly.
Proverbs 28:27

We must not be afraid to turn loose of money. Fear is the opposite of faith. How are we to inherit the world without faith or trust in the Lord? In fact, why would we even want to inherit the world if we don't trust the King that will reign over it? Fear of poverty and lack will keep us from being a valuable part of the vision for these end times by stopping us from supporting the Kingdom work. Yet the Word so plainly says in Matthew 6:33, we are to attend to Kingdom needs first and everything else will take care of itself.

This is a spiritual law and it actually pertains to every area of our lives including money. We put our time and effort into the Kingdom, or we should, and we must also bring seed to the storehouse so it can be planted in fields that are in need of being resown. No seed, no workers, no harvest, a neglected, non-fruitful field, simple. God sees us as one body. So if any part of our body withholds, there won't be enough harvested to take care of everyone.
Galatians 6:10

The execution of this spiritual law really takes faith, but the exciting result our faith can bring about is, we will inherit the whole world!

If we, the children of God, are to inherit the whole world as God promised in Romans 4:13, we must learn to exercise the gift of faith God has planted within us to accomplish it. The enemy is not going to just hand it over politely. The day is gone where we are able to just talk about our faith, we will absolutely have to depend on it for victory.
Romans 4:13 tells us:

When we walk in faith we are always in right standing with God because faith causes us to react correctly, making us in line with the Word as a result. Lack of faith however makes unrighteousness govern our actions. That's why, without faith in God it is impossible to please Him, and if He is not pleased, there is no blessing, no help.
Hebrews 11:6 informs us,
6 But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.

The scriptures assure us, if we would truly trust our Father with our lives, we could own the whole Kingdom! We have to trust His love however, and truly believe His Word. Faith is believing what the Word of God promises and then trusting that God loves us enough to perform it on our behalf.
For instance, Luke 12:32 reassures us:
32 "Do not fear, little flock, for it is your Father's good pleasure to give you the kingdom.

Do we believe this scripture is so? Have we meditated on it until it has become absolutely real to us? We won't react correctly when the enemy challenges our Kingdom rights if we haven't really accepted it for ourselves. We will become easily discouraged and not step out in works that establish the Kingdom as a result of our lack of faith in God to make it happen. It's hard to want a Kingdom to come into being that you don't understand or even truly believe in.
Our works will prove we have faith in God's economy. The Kingdom of God has its that are own set of rules very different from man's systems. We will have to let go of our mindsets to exist within the economy of this Kingdom, and it will take faith in God on our part to be successful citizens. We can't say we have faith without manifesting works to go along with it either. In fact, a lack of works proves that we have a lack of faith, and exposes the fear we actually have in trusting God. Here are some questions we can ask ourselves to test the amount of faith we really have in the economy of God. Can things get tight financially and yet we continue to help others with their financial problems, and do we continue to give offerings to the storehouse as long as they are made available to give? Do we really esteem the needs of others above our own? Maybe we have no money to offer, but what about personal effort? When we are busy in our personal lives, will we stop what we are doing and give of our time and energy to help the church family with their problems? Actually we might question ourselves, are we even interested enough to know that problems exist? If we are leadership, are we ones the family feels comfortable to look to for help? When we give to the Kingdom, be it our time or money, whichever is needed, God promises our needs will be met.
Remember Luke 6:38?

Can we trust that? Do we really believe that? Do we have the faith to act on our belief? Could we exercise our faith and hand over our last five bucks if someone needed it, trusting God would then meet our need?
Let us read James 2:14-17.
14 What does it profit, my brethren, if someone says he has faith but does not have works? Can faith save him?

16 and one of you says to them, "Depart in peace, be warmed and filled, "but you do not give them the things which are needed for the body, what does it profit?

II Corinthians 9:7-8
7 So let each one give as he purposes in his heart, not grudgingly or of necessity; for God loves a cheerful giver. (a person that has faith and trusts God can cheerfully give without fear that their own needs will not be met)
8 And God is able to make all grace abound toward you, that you, always having all sufficiency in all things, may have an abundance for every good work.

This abundance may come only after your faith is tested however! You see, God gives us money above our personal lifestyle, so we have the abundance to meet Kingdom needs. It's not ours to keep. In other words, the abundance will only really come to those that will give willingly and cheerfully to Kingdom causes. In fact, He may ask us to give sacrificially. He loves it when we will give all we have.
Let us read I Kings 17:9-16 for a great lesson in giving though in personal need and sowing all to the Kingdom obediently. God said to Elijah:
9 "Arise, go to Zarephath, which belongs to Sidon, and dwell there. See, I have commanded a widow there to provide for you." (God spoke to her ahead of Elijah's arrival.)
10 So he arose and went to Zarephath. And when he came to the gate of the city, indeed a widow was there gathering sticks. And he called to her and said, "Please bring me a little water in a cup, that I may drink."
11 And as she was going to get it, he called to her and said, "Please bring me a morsel of bread in your hand."
12 So she said, "As the LORD your God lives, I do not have bread, only a handful of flour in a bin, and a little oil in a jar; and see, I am gathering a couple of sticks that I may go in and prepare it for myself and my son, that we may eat it, and die." (They were eating their last meal!)
13 And Elijah said to her, "Do not fear; go and do as you have said, but make me a small cake from it first, and bring it to me; and afterward make some for yourself and your son. (It is not our personal decision as to how to distribute. This is the ministry of the one chosen by God to handle it.)
14 For thus says the LORD God of Israel: "The bin of flour shall not be used up, nor shall the jar of oil run dry, until the day the LORD sends rain on the earth."
15 So she went away and did according to the word of Elijah; and she and he and her household ate for many days.

This relates to the sowing and reaping principle again. She sowed into the man of God and reaped an abundance for her efforts. Common sense would say, charity starts at home but, she had heard from God and was obedient to sow into the life of the servant of the Lord. Again we see the principle, as little resources as she had, it was not hers to use as she thought fit. God needed it so she gave willingly and in faith. What you sow your reap.
Proverbs 11:24-25 explains:
24 There is one who scatters, yet increases more; And there is one who withholds more than is right, But it leads to poverty.
25 The generous soul will be made rich, And he who waters will also be watered himself.

So if we are not doing well monetarily, we might ask ourselves, where did we go wrong? Did we perhaps use our seed outside of the Kingdom in such a way that it contributed to the worldly advancement of Satan's Kingdom? Were we more interested in satisfying our personal worldly desires than concerning ourselves with the needs of the greater family? Perhaps we have been saving for hard times and have purposely closed our ears to any discussion concerning finances, as it might mean God would expect us to help meet a need. God forbid! That would cost us our security, our little nest egg, and throw our destiny completely on God! We would actually lose control of His money. How dare He expect that!
Remember Haggai 2:8 however.

Perhaps we are ones that have sown money and time into God's people and Kingdom interests, and now we are eagerly waiting on the harvest. It may not happen as fast as we would like, but it will come forth as promised. God is rarely early, but He is always on time. Faith and endurance are very necessary in this situation however. Remember, those that wait on the Lord will mount up with wings like eagles, run and not grow weary, walk and not faint. God makes our journey possible. He gives us the strength to go on when we put our trust and faith in Him.
Isaiah 40:29 promises,
29 He gives power to the weak, And to those who have no might He increases strength.

Do we believe Him? Then act on it. Wait quietly and patiently for your harvest. Be a people of faith.
